I love my local Farmers Market for 3 reasons.
1) Its fun! There is music, lots of things to see and there is a sense of community. I love talking with the people who actually made or grew my food, not just stocked it.
2) Supporting my local farmers is important to me. I don't want to waste so many precious resources by having all my food shipped in from remote corners of the world. Did you know we still ship in many things that we can grow here.
3) When I buy the food at the Farmers Market I know is is fresh and wholesome. The real nutrients my body needs. Input = Output. What are you putting in your body?

Love and Acceptance
Yesterday was our 5th year anniversary and there were no gifts exchanged. Some would jump to conclusions and ask, "Did he forget?" No one forgot anything, in fact we discussed the day and decided we did not need to spend money to enjoy each other and celebrate. This may be, because neither one of us uses the love language of "Gifts". It is difficult to communicate with someone when you are speaking a different language and Dr. Gary Chapman says we all speak 5 Love Languages. Check it out at www.5lovelanguages.com We know each other's love languages and I think this means we are also effective Love communicators. Happy 5 years my Love!

Invest in You
Investing in your own personal wellness in important now more than ever. Our health care system or sometimes referred to as a "sick care" system seems to be in a constant state of flux. Not too long ago you herd on the news that there was a nursing shortage, then even before you herd the end of the shortage, a hiring freeze went into effect in Alberta. We frequently seem to hear about the long wait times for treatments and care. So, what can you do about this? The answer is invest in your wellness today. What I mean by this is that everyone needs to build healthy habits into their lifestyles. This looks like getting the right nutrition, plenty of exercise, drinking healthy water, and getting restful sleep. It may seem like this is one of those regular doctors orders of maintaining good health, but then why is everyone not as healthy as they could be? These four seemingly simple health tips often create blocks, we find there is not enough time in our day to attend to our own health. At this point I encourage people to sit down and evaluate their priorities. When you do not take the time to invest in your own health, who will? When you slip into an illness or injury due to lack of self care who will take care of you then? What about you bills, your family, your responsibilities? When you spend all you energy on others in your life and burn out how do you plan to get back on top of things? There are some simple ways you can boost and rejuvenate yourself, and it starts at home. One of the ways I help people find balance is by helping them turning their home environment into a healthier place to be and to recharge. This is passive wellness, which means you come home and live anyway so why not make your house a healthy healing home. If you would like to find out more about what it takes to make your house a healthy healing home, I would love to set up a free appointment to show you how to create a healthier home now. Quick Tip From Your Nurse
80/20 rule. Moderation. Often times we indulge too much, this is reflected back to us in the obesity epidemic in North America. On the other hand when people restrict their diets, they can end up binging and going overboard. If we eat healthy 80% of the time we can enjoy treats the other 20%. This helps us live balanced while having the energy for life.

Quick Tips from your Nurse
Anchor. A physical action used to connect with a specific frame of mind. For example one might pinch their ear lobe to remind themselves of their confidence. First you make the decision to connect an action like pinching the ear lobe with confidence. Then repeat the pinching of the ear lobe several times while connecting it to a thought that makes you feel confident. Do this until it becomes a habit. Then when you need a boost of confidence in times of stress, you can bring it out by simply pinching your ear lobe.

Quick Tips from the Nurse
Deep Breathing. 3 slow deep breaths is just what the nurse ordered; more oxygen for focus and concentration, slows heart rate for calming and relaxing effects, it's a mini meditation, and beneficial for mental health.
